October 2007

We brought Peyton home from the hospital on Sunday, October 14. The first few days were generally uneventful. There was mostly sleeping, eating, and spitting up. You know, usual baby stuff.

We gave Peyton his first bath on October 16. He didn't like that at all.

We took him to his first pediatrician appointment on October 17. Our doctor checked him out and everything seemed fine and Peyton had almost gained back all of the weight that he lost in the hospital. Therefore, the doctor said that we could skip the 2 week old appointment and just come back for his one month appointment.

We had some visitors in the first few weeks. Dougie was very excited to hold Peyton and even feed him.

My other cousins and aunt also visited in those first few days.

For Peyton's first Halloween, he was dressed up like a hot dog. Yes, he is in there. We bought the costume before he was born, so we didn't know it was going to be so huge. But we did like it because it was very warm. We took Peyton trick-or-treating to my parents house, two of my cousins' houses, and my aunt's house. He made out pretty well for a 2 week old. Kyle and I took care of eating his treats.

The only major problem that we encountered this month was that Peyton did not want to sleep in his crib. He would nap in his Boppy sitting next to me on the sofa. At night, Kyle and I took turns sleeping on the sofa holding Peyton. It wasn't wonderful, but at least we were all sleeping. Otherwise we were really enjoying our time as a new family!
