April was mostly spent lounging around and playing. I think this picture of Kyle and Peyton is pretty cute.
We took Peyton to the playground for the first time on April 12. This playground was about a five minute drive from our house. Peyton was too little to go down the slide by himself, so we would just hold him at the top and then slide him all the way to the bottom. He really liked the slide, as you can see. We also put Peyton in the baby swing. He enjoyed that too.
Peyton got his first tooth on April 16. It was one of the front two on the bottom. He didn't have many issues with teething. There were no fevers or ear infections. Thank goodness.
Peyton had his first taste of vegetables on April 19. The first thing we fed him was green beans. He seemed to like them fine. We fed him each new food for three days, just to make sure that he wasn't allergic to it. Then we were able to move him on to a new food. Eventually we discovered that Peyton really did not like green beans. I guess they were ok for him until he discovered that there were other things out there, and then they didn't taste so good anymore. Really, green beans were the only baby food that Peyton didn't like.
A week later, we started giving Peyton water in a sippy cup. He was able to hold it and put it in his mouth all by himself. We had to try several different types of cups before we found one that he liked. Actually, he sort of skipped the whole sippy cup stage and went right to straws. He drinks from those cups with the flip up straws. Once we found out that these were his favorites, we stocked up!
At Peyton's 6 month check-up, we found out that he was 27 inches long and weighed 13 lb 14 oz. This month he was eating cereal twice a day, with his first and second bottles of the day. He was drinking 6 oz at a time. We'd give him a vegetable with his dinner time bottle. He was babbling nonstop, especially saying "ma-ma-ma" and "ba-ba-ba." He also took a liking to peek-a-boo and balls. If we stood him on the floor next to the table, he was able to hold himself up by grabbing onto the table. He always liked standing up, even if it was on our laps.
How about that crazy after-bath hair?! Cute!
