2 Month Check-up

My baby boy is two months old already. Where does the time go?

I took Hunter to his two month check-up this morning. Hunter gained about two and a half pounds in the last month, and he is now 11 lb 10 oz, which is the 50th percentile. He is 24 inches long, which is the 80th percentile. I'm not sure how he's above average for height because Kyle and I are both a little shorter than average. Hunter's head circumference is also in the 50th percentile. He's doing very well, with no health problems to report. His doctor even said that if she didn't know his age, she would guess that he was at least three months old based on his motor skills. He's already advanced!

In other news, Hunter has been sleeping through the night since September 15th. He falls asleep around 7 or 7:30 pm and then sleeps until about 6 or 7 am. It's so nice to get 11-12 hours of continuous sleep! Hunter has been smiling like crazy and talking up a storm. He's generally in a very good mood, except when he's hungry!

Here are a few more pictures that I wanted to share. My boys and I.

Terps Game

On Saturday, my dad, Jeremy, Kyle, Peyton, and I went to the Maryland game. It was a noon game, so we left our house around 9:15 to go to College Park. My mom stayed home with Hunter. It was pretty hot that day, and I wasn't feeling all that great, but went to the game anyway. I thought about staying home, but I didn't want to miss the action!

Since it was an early game, we cooked some breakfast to eat. Here is the genius squad trying to level out the grill so that the pancakes and eggs wouldn't run all over the place. They did a good job!

While Dad and I were preparing the food, Peyton, Kyle, and Jeremy played a little tailgate golf.

My dad did all of the cooking. He made bacon, sausages, scrapple (bleh!), pancakes, and fried eggs. Everything was quite yummy! Here's the grill master.

After everyone finished their breakfast, the boys played a little football. They were playing with a regulation size football, which was bigger than Peyton's head. It was hard for him to throw it because it was so big, so he got elected to be the center. He was very good at snapping the ball. Kyle was the quarterback and Jeremy was the wide receiver.

We cleaned up from breakfast and then walked up to the stadium. Peyton walked about 50 feet, and then decided that Kyle needed to carry him the rest of the way. Poor Kyle. It was pretty hot out. Once in the stadium, the sun was just beating down on us because it was noon, so it was straight up above us. I don't think there was a cloud in the sky. I wasn't feeling well again, so I spent a lot of time sitting down by the concession stands, rather than watching the game. It was in the shade and much cooler down there. They had one of those misting tents set up, which was the highlight of Peyton's whole day. He loved playing in the water.

The Terps won 42-28 over Florida International University. Woohoo!

Sesame Street Live

Fall is definitely our busy time of the year, so of course we had another busy weekend. On Saturday, there was a Terps game. They played Morgan State at 6 pm. Because of the late start, we decided not to take Peyton or Hunter, so my mom stayed our house with them. It was nice to have a little adult time. My dad rode to College Park with us, and we met Jeremy, Jill, and two of their friends there. We got a prime tailgating spot and set up the tent, table, and chairs. Dad grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausages. We also had macaroni and potato salad, cheese and pepperoni, and chips. Jeremy provided the dessert and we brought the drinks. Everything was yummy. The Terps whooped up on Morgan State, winning 62-3. The game was actually quite boring and we left after the 3rd quarter. The weather was beautiful all day and we had a good time.

On Sunday, I took Peyton to see Sesame Street Live at the arena. My parents met us there. Kyle went to Sesame Street Live last year and didn't really enjoy it, so he volunteered to stay home with Hunter, who was too little to go anyway. Peyton was so excited for the show! I told him we were going to go on Saturday morning, and it was all he could talk about until we got there on Sunday afternoon. He even woke up twice in the night. I think he was worried he was going to miss the show!

We arrived about 30 minutes before the show started. We took a few pictures. Look at my big boy!

Peyton and I. We're both wearing our Sesame Street shirts. Peyton's has Cookie Monster on it, but his arms are blocking it. I'm not sure what's up with the face that he's making, but it's funny.

My mama and pops. It was also Grandparents Day, so Peyton and Hunter gave them a card and a gift certificate to Bo Brooks.

Peyton did not move during the show. This is what he looked like most of the time. He was completely into it and could not be distracted.

At intermission, Peyton thought the show was over and was so sad. With tears in his eyes, he sadly said, "I want more." I explained that they were just taking a break, so he was happy again. Grandmom bought Peyton some binoculars, or "nocalers" as he calls them.

The theme for the show this year was Elmo's Healthy Heroes. Super Grover lost his "superness" and the group spent the show looking for them. Elmo became Captain Fuzzy, Abby Cadabby was Glitter Girl, Telly was Triangle Guy, and Zoe and her pet rock were Wonderzoe and Rock Rock. Collectively they were known as the Fabulous Five. We learned about exercise, good nutrition, getting enough sleep, and having good hygiene. In the end, Super Grover got his superness back! I took a bunch of pictures, but here are just two.

All during the second half of the show, Peyton seemed worried that the show was going to be over soon. So after each scene, he'd tell me he wanted more. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and Peyton was quite sad. I told him we'd come back next year so that Hunter could see the show too! Peyton was super well-behaved all day leading up to the show and during the whole show. Too bad he isn't that good all of the time...

First Terps Game

The Terps first game of the season was on Labor Day at M&T Bank Stadium, where the Ravens play. Jeremy and Jill were out of town and my dad purchased an extra ticket, so we brought Peyton, Hunter, and my mom along with us to the game. Hunter was quite excited for his first Terps game! It was scheduled to start at 4:00, so we met my parents around 3:00 outside of the stadium. We went inside and found our seats. They were on the 500 level in the end zone, so they weren't the best seats. But it's not like our seats in College Park are really that great either.

Anyway, we took lots of pictures before the game started.

All of us minus Kyle, who was taking the picture.

Hunter's first Terps game!

Proud grandparents.

Little dude.

My dad was Hunter's personal shade umbrella.

Before the game, all of the Navy cadets marched onto the field in formation. As they walked out onto the field, the announcer named each of the unit's commanders. It took a really long time for all of the cadets to get onto the field. It seemed like a Navy home game, but it actually was a Terps home game.

It did look pretty cool once all of the cadets were on the field though.

After the singing of the National Anthem, the Terps finally ran onto the field.

The stadium was almost completely full and about 75% of the people were Terps fans. It was nice to see. The game was great, with Maryland scoring a touchdown on their first possession. Navy turned the ball over twice as they were about to score and they missed a field goal. Heading into the 4th quarter, the score was 17-14 Maryland. With about one minute left in the game, Navy was facing 3rd down within the 10 yard line. They got down to the inch line and on 4th down chose to go for the touchdown rather than kick the field goal. Maryland had a great defensive play and stopped Navy from scoring! Time ran out and the Terps held on to win 17-14. It was a great game.
The weather was a little hot that day because the sun was directly in our eyes for the entire game. Having to hold Hunter didn't help anything either. He ended up falling asleep right before the game started and slept pretty much through the entire game. He would stir when the crowd erupted in cheers, but stayed asleep. Peyton got bored pretty early on, but he had popcorn to eat, so he was happy. He also cheered for the Terps and stayed on the lookout for Testudo. We got several comments from other fans on how cute our kids are. To that I say, "Well, duh!" Ha.

Inner Harbor

The weather has been a little cooler and absolutely gorgeous lately. We decided to go to the Inner Harbor to walk around and get some dinner last Saturday evening. We try to get to the Harbor at least once a year, but it has been so hot and being pregnant made me too lazy to walk around. But on Saturday the temperature was in the low 80s, so we made the most of the day.

Peyton was fascinated by the paddle boats in the water. Some of them looked like dragons, and he called them "sea animals." He watched them for a long time. He also tried to see some actual sea animals in the water, but of course the water is too murky to see much of anything. That didn't deter him from looking though.

Even Hunter was awake for the festivities!

We strolled along the path that leads down to the Science Center. There was a performance with about four drummers and six dancers going on. Peyton was enthralled and could have stood there listening to the music and watching the dancers all night if we would have let him. He even busted out with some of his own dance moves.

We stopped to take some pictures during our walk.

By the time we made it back over to where the restaurants are located, we were all getting hungry. We decided to go to the Cheesecake Factory. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table because it was the weekend. We got lucky and got a table outside though, so it was worth it. The food was delicious of course, but I didn't get any cheesecake because of my diet. Boo. By the time we finished dinner Hunter was super fussy, so we walked around a little more to try to calm him down before getting in the car. A Motown-like group was performing in the little concert area by the water. Hunter and I listened to them sing while Kyle took Peyton to the bathroom a few times. Hunter finally fell asleep, so we walked back to our car and left for home. It was a pretty great evening!

Maryland State Fair

Kyle, Peyton, Hunter, my parents, Jeremy, Jill, and I met up at the Maryland State Fair way back on Friday, August 27. It took us over an hour to drive up to Timonium, where the fairgrounds are located. Traffic on the beltway was horrific, being a Friday afternoon, and we had to stop two times for Peyton to go to the bathroom. We eventually made it though!

We all parked at a bowling alley across the street from the fairgrounds and walked over as a group. Hunter was actually awake! (His shirt says "Team Grandpa")

Everyone was hungry, so we ate dinner as soon as we got into the fair. Some people ate sausages and others ate chicken nuggets. After Peyton finally finished eating his chicken nuggets, we let him ride the rides, which is one of his favorite summer activities. Jeremy and Jill got ride bracelets too so that they could ride with Peyton if he was too short. Luckily this year he was able to ride the kiddie rides by himself. The three of them started off on the huge Ferris wheel. Next, Peyton saw the big slide and wanted to go on that. The line wasn't that long, but they only had three of those burlap mats, so it was slow-moving because everyone had to wait for a mat, and then walk up the stairs. While we were waiting for Jeremy and Peyton to go down, Hunter posed for a picture with his grandparents.

Peyton and Jeremy were being silly while they were waiting in line.

Finally, it was their turn to go down the slide. Peyton loved it.

By this point in the evening, the Hunter we all know and love was back. He was passed out in the stroller!

Next Peyton, Jeremy, and Jill all rode the carousel. Who was having the most fun? If you said Jeremy, I think you're right.

Peyton asked Uncle Jer to ride on the elephants with him. Jeremy just barely fit into the elephant because he is so tall. Again, who is having more fun? Ha.

Peyton rode the "motorcycle" all by himself. I think it was actually an ATV, but whatever.

Peyton rode another ride or two, but then it was getting late, so we went over to the barn area to check out the animals. There were chickens, goats, turkeys, ducks, miniature horses, and other animals. Peyton loves animals, so he spent lots of time walking around and around looking at them all.

We were all getting tired (hey, it was almost 9:00!) so we decided to head home. We had to pry Peyton away from the animals, but he and Hunter needed to get to bed. We walked back across the street and said our goodbyes. Peyton fell asleep in the car on the way home. Thankfully, it only took about half the time to get home as it did to get to the fair. Peyton had a great time, of course. He got to ride some rides and see some animals. He was in heaven!

Great Kids Village

On Sunday, we decided to go to a place called Great Kids Village. We went there last year when Ryan and the girls came to visit. The kids had a good time then, so we thought we'd go back again. Ryan, Kate, and their families decided to eat lunch at the cafe there, so we came a little later. They were still eating when we arrived, so I took Peyton (aka Mr. Impatient) to play while Kyle and Hunter stayed in the cafe and chatted with the others.

Peyton began his day playing with the wooden trains. I made him wear the conductor hat.
Next, he found the ball pit. Balls are still one of his favorite things to play with, so he had a blast in there.
We walked over to the grocery store next. Peyton picked out lots of fruits, vegetables, and other yummy treats for his shopping cart.
Then he went to the kitchen area to cook with his groceries.
Peyton wanted to check out these giant Tinkertoys next. I'm not sure what he was trying to build, but he had a good time.
Hunter was having lots of fun too... He actually did wake up before we left for home.
Peyton and Daddy built a castle out of these huge foam blocks. Peyton calls anything that he builds a "castle."
We checked out the big sand box next. I even played in the sand with Peyton. He tried a few times to build an actual sand castle, but obviously the sand would not hold any shape because it was dry. He just played with all of the other toys instead.
Noah and Kate played in the sandbox too.
Next, we went to the sports room. After a rousing game of Foosball, Peyton decided that he wanted to play putt-putt. He was pretty good.
Silly Peyton
The last room that we checked out before we left was the music room. Here is my little Beethoven. He loves to play instruments and sing.
There were about a million more pictures, but I thought that these were enough. All of the kids had fun at Great Kids Village. It definitely is a place for all ages to have a good time. Everyone went back to our house to eat dinner and hang out a little more. Becky fed Hunter while Sara checked him out. She gave him kisses too!
We tried to take a cousins picture. This one is ok, but I think others might have captured a better picture. The kids did sit still and allow the paparazzi to take their pictures.
Then Sara wanted to hold Hunter.
And then Lindsey wanted to hold him too.
Ryan and Becky brought Peyton and Hunter gifts. Peyton got a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse coloring book.
And Hunter got two outfits and a "Little Brother" onesie. All three things were super cute.
We made chicken nuggets for the kids for dinner and the adults ate tacos. Peyton, Lindsey, and Sara must have been hungry because they each ate all of their chicken nuggets and then a taco too. Lindsey and Sara made cookies with Aunt Kate for everyone to eat for dessert. They were yummy. We hung out a little while longer after dinner, and then Kate and Ryan headed back to Kate's house. Ryan and his family left to go home on Monday. It was good visiting with everyone!
