First Walk

The weather was beautiful on Wednesday, so after dinner we decided to take a family walk around our neighborhood. It was Hunter's first tour of where we live. Peyton rode his tricycle.

And Hunter was so excited that he slept the entire time.

I pushed Hunter around.

But Kyle wanted to get in on the action too.

We walked for about a half-hour, but then we had to get back home because Peyton needed a bath. It was a fun family time.

Peyton's Pictures

Lots of posts ago I promised to post some of the pictures that Peyton took with his camera. I finally got around to uploading them to the computer. Here are four of the 97 (!) that he took in about an hour at the hospital when he came to visit us the day after Hunter was born.

Most of them are pretty bad, like this one of Kyle's shoulder.

But some of them turned out ok, like these of Hunter, Kyle, and me.

Visitors

I am a little behind on the posting. We've had a bunch of visitors over the past two weekends. Two weeks ago, we had a very busy Sunday. First Kate, Dave, and Noah came to visit us and meet Hunter. Peyton was very excited to play with Noah. I didn't get any pictures of the two of them together though. Here is a picture of Noah playing with this cowboy hat. He loved to play with it but would not let anyone put it on his head. So cute.

Kate and Dave brought Peyton some presents so that he could feel special. He got this book called "You're All My Favorites." It's about a family of bears with three cubs. The parent bears explain that each of the bears is their favorite for a different reason. Peyton loves the book, so we read it all of the time.

Peyton also got this t-shirt that says "Big Brother." Hunter got a matching onesie that says "Little Brother." I haven't been able to find matching shirts for them, so I'm super excited to dress them in their matching clothes and take some pictures. They also brought Hunter another onesie and an Elmo teething rattle.

Here's Aunt Kate with Hunter.

Kate tried to introduce Noah to Hunter. Noah could not have cared less about Hunter. Noah pretty much ignored him and played with Peyton instead. He wasn't jealous of Kate holding Hunter though, so that was good.

Kate, Dave, and Noah hung out for a while and Kyle grilled hamburgers and hot dogs out on the grill for lunch. They left soon after lunch so that Peyton could take his nap.
When Peyton woke up from his nap, Kim, Bo, and Dougie came to visit and meet Hunter. They also brought Peyton some gifts. He got a Mickey Mouse t-shirt...

... and a new baseball glove.

Hunter got some gifts too. He scored some of those cute jean diapers...

... and a sleeper, an outfit (both Mickey Mouse), and a rattle. Kyle really did like the gifts even if he looks grumpy, haha.

Here is Kim, Bo, and Dougie with Hunter.
And here's Dougie.

They all took turns holding Hunter and playing with Peyton. There was even some ping-pong playing. Peyton loves playing with Dougie.

The next weekend, Aunt Bev, Nadean, Vester, and Austin came to visit the boys. Again, Peyton scored some gifts. From Aunt Bev, he got two books - a 'search and find' and a 'draw and learn' book.

From Nadean and crew, Peyton got an outfit, a puzzle, and a photo album for him to put some pictures that he took with his camera in. I thought that was a super cute idea.

Aunt Bev held Hunter first. He was pretty chill and didn't cry much.

Hunter got some gifts too. From Nadean, Vester, and Austin, he got a super cozy fleece blanket and these two cute sleepers.

And from Aunt Bev, he got some long-sleeved shirts and pants for the winter.

Nadean held Hunter next.

And Austin held him last.

While everyone took turns holding Hunter, the rest of us played with Peyton. We played lots of catch with a football and regular balls. It was a fun day. Thanks to everyone that has visited us and gave gifts to the boys. We appreciate it!

2 Week Check-Up

I took Hunter to his two week check-up today. He now weighs 8 pounds 1 ounce, so he is just one ounce shy of his birth weight. The pediatrician said that babies should be back to their birth weight at the two week check-up, so she was happy that Hunter was almost there. I don't know what percentile he is in for weight though, because she said that they don't plot the weight until the 1 month check-up. The doctor checked lots of other things on Hunter and said that he is doing great.

Birthday Party at the Farm

Saturday was my cousin Amanda's son's 1st birthday party. The party took place at Huber's Farm. Since I didn't really think it was a good idea to take Hunter to a farm and have him outside in the heat for a few hours, my parents just took Peyton to the party with them. I gave my parents our camera so that they could take some pictures. Here are some of them.

Random Pictures

Here are a few pictures that didn't really fit with any other post. We put Hunter down onto the floor for his first tummy time a few nights ago. He wasn't really a fan of that.

Kyle's Birthday

Even though Kyle's birthday has been taken over by someone much cuter, he still got lots of presents. This year was Kyle's 30th birthday! Before I found out that I was pregnant and due two days after his birthday, I had grand plans to throw Kyle a very spectacular surprise birthday party to celebrate him becoming OLD! Instead, he got the best gift ever - Hunter!

We finally got around to giving Kyle his gifts on the 13th, which was the day that we got home from the hospital. Peyton helped Kyle open everything. Peyton and Hunter got Kyle and iPod nano and I got him the auxiliary cable so that he can play the iPod in his car.

My parents got Kyle an iTunes gift card, a shirt, and some amaretto balls (pictured below).

Kyle also received an iTunes gift card from Jeremy and Jill, Chipotle gift cards from Ryan's family and Kate's family, and some other restaurant gift cards from my cousins. He sure cleaned up for someone who doesn't have a birthday anymore (hehe).

Hunter's First Days

The nurses brought Hunter back to our room around 6:00 am Monday morning. Most of the day was spent just sitting around the room, with periodic checks of me and Hunter by the nurses. Kyle and I were pretty bored, but Hunter was quite content sleeping in his little crib.

My mom picked Peyton up from daycare and then she and my dad brought Peyton up to visit us again. Peyton came with lots of gifts - two onesies for Hunter and a teddy bear that says "No. 1 Mom" for me. I love this picture of us (minus the hospital gown!)

We all just hung out and chatted. Peyton wanted to hold Hunter again, so I helped him do that. He loves Hunter so much and is so proud of him. That smile never left Peyton's face!

Peyton brought his new camera to the hospital. He took lots of pictures of everyone. I would say maybe 1 out of 4 pictures actually captured their intended target. There were several pictures of the wall, feet, parts of shoulders, and other things like that. Peyton was quite the photographer though. He would tell Kyle, my parents, and I where we should stand, and then he'd say, "Say cheese everybody!" and take a picture. This went on for about a half-hour. I will upload his pictures and post some of them.

Here's another picture of Hunter chilling. He's been a pretty relaxed baby so far (knock on wood!) How about that double chin? Hehe.

My parents and Peyton left around dinner time. Kyle and I ate some crappy hospital food and then sat around watching tv. My doctor came in to check on me and to circumcise Hunter around 8:30 that evening. Even though we weren't supposed to get discharged until sometime on Tuesday, she said that we could leave that night if we wanted to. And of course we wanted to! She said that we'd just have to wait about 30 minutes after Hunter was circumcised and then we'd be free to go. So while she worked on Hunter, we packed up all of our stuff and I got dressed. About an hour later, my nurse came in and said that we couldn't leave after all. My doctor forgot that Hunter needed to be observed for at least 12 more hours because he was at risk at developing an infection (thanks to me being infected myself). Needless to say, I was pretty aggravated! I changed back into the stupid hospital gown and we settled in to get some sleep.

On Tuesday morning, the nurses took Hunter to be checked out by the pediatrician. When they brought him back, they told us that we wouldn't be leaving any time soon because his belly was making too many noises, he was bloated and they wanted to watch him. They said it sounded like he had a ton of gas, so we'd at least need to wait until he pooped to see if that helped his tummy out. So, I cheered Hunter on and begged him to poop so that we could go home. I don't think I've ever wanted to see some poop more than that day!
Finally, around lunch time we got what we were waiting for. The nurse took Hunter to be checked out by the pediatrician again and she said that he was better and that we could leave. So I got dressed (again!) and we got Hunter dressed too.

Ready to go!

Hunter was pretty content in the car seat. I think he was ready to leave the hospital too.

We were discharged around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. We arrived home to this sign and balloons.

We hung out at home for a little bit and then we went to pick Peyton up from daycare. Everyone at the daycare center was very excited to see Hunter. When we went into Peyton's classroom, all of the kids ran right over to check him out. Peyton showed him to everyone and kept calling him "my Hunter." He even turned to one of his friends and said, "Do you like my Hunter?" So cute! He is such a good big brother.

Later that evening, Jeremy and Jill came to visit.

Brothers! We think that Peyton looks gargantuan compared to Hunter.

Me and my boys! I love the cuddles!

It was a good first few days. Everything has been going smoothly so far.
