On November 2, Peyton rolled over! Yes, he was only 3 weeks old. Kyle and I were doing tummy time with Peyton. I went upstairs for something when a minute later Kyle yelled, "He just rolled over!" I was so upset that I missed this. I ran back downstairs and put him back on his stomach and begged him to do it again so that I could see. It took a few minutes, but then he did and we got this video:
Peyton turned one month old on the 12th. We took Peyton for his check-up. We found out that he was 21 1/4 inches long, but still only weighed 6 lb 12 oz. This was two ounces less than when he was born. After some examination and discussion, the doctor determined that Peyton was not eating as much as he should be. She assumed that the formula that we were currently using was not agreeing with him. She switched him to a soy formula. We tried this for three days, and then I took him back for another weigh-in. He had not gained any weight. Then she switched him to Similac Alimentum. We tried this one for another three days, and then we had another appointment. Finally Peyton had gained a few ounces! Our doctor told us to keep him on this formula. Of course it was the most expensive formula of all. But he was worth it! Duh.
This is a picture of Peyton's first stroll around our neighborhood.
I just love this picture of Kyle and Peyton hanging out together.
Here is Peyton wearing his Lions' jersey for the first time. As you can see, he was pretty sad that the Lions sucked. I just loved, loved, loved when he would stick his lip out like this.
Peyton enjoyed his first Thanksgiving. He slept through most of dinner. He was at the table with us though. We put his carseat on a chair so that he could be near the action. After dinner, he was passed around while all of our family oohed and ahhed over him. Uncle Jeremy even held Peyton for the first time!
On the day after Thanksgiving, Peyton smiled for the first time. It was kind of hard to capture those first smiles on camera, but we were finally successful.
This month Peyton was completely fascinated with lights. He would always laugh when we would "boop" his nose. He still didn't like taking baths. Peyton finally started sleeping in his crib the weekend after Thanksgiving. We think that this was directly related to the new formula. He was finally eating enough and therefore able to sleep. It was so nice for Kyle and I to both be able to sleep in bed at night!
